I took a ride from Melbourne airport with the rudest taxi driver I have experienced yet. Not only was he abusive he threatened to take me to the police station when I voiced my concern with the service I recieved.
If I hadn’t have been in a hurry (which the driver made worse) through not allowing me to drop my bad off I would have been more than happy to discuss the matter with an officer of the law.
Taxi License plate “ST 1350″ who ignores the cab rank and procedes to pick up a fare yards from the queue. We will all remember you!! (18:10 – 25-05-12, outside Sandringham Station.)
My advice to anyone who sees this cab waiting patiently at the head of the cab rank, **ignore him** and go to the next cab. Make sure you explain this to the next driver.
Why should we follow the “cab rank” procedure when he clearly does not, and insist.
Why am I so upset. You would be if you waited out in the open, not under cover at the perscribed place (cab rank), in the pouring rain for 20min, only for this joker to not only look at you, but to put his blinker on and then stop short, as someone waves at him.
Although I haven’t traveled in a Silver Service Cab I would like to make a complaint about a very rude & aggressive driver I experienced at my local Westfield on the weekend. The driver abused me in his foreign tongue in front of my infant child. He blocked my access to the boot of my car. WHY you ask, he thought he had the right to a car space that became available several car spaces back from where he was parked illegally, he was not indicating that he was moving backwards, infact he only became aware of the car space after I indicated that I was to turn and the car leaving was reversing. I don’t appreciate being screamed at abused and intimated for doing nothing wrong.
The driver I noted on exiting the Shopping Centre was illegally parked in the Taxi Rank. Considering the bad wrap the Taxi industry seems to receive I can now see why. If you can’t speak our language, follow our basic road rules how the hell are you allowed to drive us around!!

Taxi m7028 driver 503315, your cab smells terrible and gave us headache from smell of smoke yet when we complained said not him yet he had pack of gold Peter jacksons in his console save yourself the headache and don’t get in this cab!
M 5785 Silver Top shuttle mini-van is not driving safely.
Place: 655 Mount Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds, VIC 3039. (At the traffic light outside KFC restaurant.)
When I was driving along on Mount Alexander Road, I saw the traffic light outside KFC restaurant was changing to red. I checked from my rear-view mirror and saw a Silver Top mini-van (Two car length away behind my car), so I slowed down and stopped. Suddenly I heard a loud and long horn and it was a Silver Top shuttle mini-van number M5785 that stopped extremely close to my car and continuously horned, Of course I shouted out “Can’t you see…it is red light…stop at red light…are you colour blind…” As the light changed to green, the Silver Top shuttle mini-van took off and passed my car, and I saw the taxi driver put his right hand middle finger at me and my young daughter. I found this extremely rude and offensive and although this is just one of your many employees I am extremely put off that I probably will not use your services in the future.
I’m currently in a taxi where the driver is taking me on the longest route to my work and is talking very loudly on the phone in his native language so I can’t understand what he is saying he could be saying all number of unprofessional things. I find this to be the definition of rudeness and not to mention a breach of my safety as he can not be 100% focused on the road if he is so engrossed in his conversation. Cab number ID 515890

Booked a taxi by phone an hour ahead, and when the taxi wasn’t at my front door I called operator, she didn’t seem to give a damn at all and said my booking was processed 3 mins ago even when I booked one hour in advance, I told her to cancel the booking and she didn’t even apologize, disgusting service and nearly caused me to miss my flight. Will not use silvertop ever again, so many taxis why wait my ass.
Advance bookings with taxi companies are pointless. Even if you book three months ahead the job only gets called 10-15mins before the pick up time and has no additional priority, so its basically the same as just picking up the phone and calling for an immediate pickup. If there’s a cab around you might get it, if not you miss out. Its a farce. The best option is to bypass the radio rooms and use an app like GoCatch which lets you see by GPS if there’s a cab nearby and gives you actual phone contact with the driver. The more drivers and passengers bypass the radio rooms the more likely the cab companies are to start improving passenger services.
When you need taxi just call to frankston taxi then you will see the difference . Make sure don’t call to 13 cab silver top any one else cab company.

Silver Top Taxi T9289 refusal of short fare at ANZ Stadium after the NRL season opener. His light was on and he asked where we were going. We told him we were going to Flemington to which he said “im going in a different direction, there’s a cab rank over there”
My friend then complained asking why he wouldn’t accept the fare.
Then the driver said “now I’m waiting for my booking” he changed his story pretty quickly. What a joke!

Ordered a taxi at around 11am to 654 Murray Rd, Preston, to go to the Northland shopping centre, on Friday 21st March. Driver barely spoke other than to say he did not know where the Northland shopping centre was. I am not from Melbourne, but vaguely thought it was further up Murray Rd & possible off to the left. He spent some time finding it on his GPS. It is a large shoppping centre & I can’t imagine why he didn’t know it, if he was covering this area.
Worse he completely went through a red light which was red several seconds before the crossing. An oncoming car turning right, nearly hit us, slamming on his brakes & horn. My driver didn’t appologise to iether me or the other driver.
I also felt he didn’t look like the man on the photo on the dashboard.
At around midnight of 3/6/14, I caught a Silver Top Taxi T9217, Merchant terminal ID 24144014 to get home from work. I have previously caught this cab home to Burwood before and the driver recognised me. The first time in his cab, he had “missed a turn” and ended up driving further to get to where I had to go. This time, I told him I was going to Burwood again and he confirmed that it is “opposite the police station”. Again, he “missed a turn” and ended up driving an extra 5-10minutes. I believe this cab driver is “missing” turn offs on purpose for extra cab fare. When I told him that he needed to give me a discount for the extra fare, he said he’s human and I should have been nice to him and gave him directions. He also said that I was being rude and have insulted him because I didn’t talk to him when I was in the cab and indicate that he had tried to overcharge me on purpose. He had been raising his voice at this point. I pay a cab fare after working till midnight and it certainly is not my job to have a conversation to keep a taxi driver company or so that he has his mind on the road. Taxi drivers also have GPS in their taxi and this is certainly not a valid excuse that he doesn’t know where he has to go. I would like a suitable response to this incident in a reasonable time frame, otherwise I will approach consumer affairs with this matter. This is not a matter of an additional $5 cab fare but rather a matter of principal and that you may have cab drivers who are trying to overcharge customers. This is a reputational risk to your business should more of these incidents be made public.
Recently made evening booking with SilverTop for a ride first thing at 7:30 in the morning from Sth Melbourne to the airport. The booking was done via iPhone application. As I have been using the app many times before, I was aware that the app shows the request status all the time in real time, which means it talks to the cab system all the time. Usually it shows pending until just before the ride, and then when the request gets accepted by a driver you see your request “Assigned”.
So, in the morning when the request got “Assigned” and the cab hasn’t shown up by 7:15am, I called 131008 via the app and asked where was my cab, in response the operator advised that there is no such request in the system, despite the fact that the request had status Assigned and the cab number allocated was M4908. The iPhone app has got lovely feature which that shows the assigned cab’s location on a map.
So, the operator said the she needs to log a new request and the cab should be in 5-10 mins. In that very minute the Assigned request disappeared from my app, even from the Past Booking folder, and then received a sms that cab M1138 is now approaching.
Have to admit, that the operator quickly provided a replacement, however just wondering where the problem was? Only the operator would know, if it was really with the system, or was it the operator, or was it with the assigned cab driver?
Working in IT can imagine how much efforts have been put in the apps and systems development and deployment, but it is up to the operators if clients will keep using them and trust them or not.
This is my second bad experience with Silver Top cabs drivers.
I visit Australia 3-4 times per year for business for the last 6 years.
The charge that I paid today was $98, as compared to $65 more that I paid for the last 10 times. The route was very long and the driver was very aggressive when I asked about the long drive and big meter charge.
The two bad experiences were with driver who are originally from Africa, Somalia.
I am a discriminating person, but these drivers do abuse foreigners.
Advise: Never get in the cab if the driver at the airport is from Somalia.

Took a cab from No. 200 Spencer Street to Melbourne Airport at about at about 9.00 pm on 1.9.2014. Checked the website, the fare should be between A45-A54. He charged us A70 (including fares for taking wrong exit, intentionally or otherwise, to the Airport).
